Video: B-PEACE Resource Day: Everyone can help end violence

The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts’ B-PEACE Resource Day on Sept. 28, 2013, drew more than 300 eastern Massachusetts Episcopalians for workshops and inspiration to work against violence and be peacemakers in our churches, schools, families and communities.  In this video, our bishops and other participants talk about why it’s important for the church to do this work.  Learn more about our B-PEACE campaign here.

The B-PEACE Resource Day was held on Sept. 28 at Roxbury Community College. Participants from throughout the diocese gathered to learn, collaborate and discover new tools for preventing violence in our families, schools and communities. The Rev. Kathleen Adams-Shepherd, Rector of Trinity Church in Newtown, Conn., gave the opening plenary.

Bishop Shaw invites congregations to "B-PEACE"

In an April 1, 2013, Easter letter to the diocese, Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE invites every congregation to be a bearer of peace, and to consider how each will join one or more emerging efforts of the B-PEACE for Jorge Campaign focusing on ending gun violence through:  youth programs; support for parents and families; jobs for teens and young adults; partnerships with underresourced public schools; and gun reform advocacy. 

Cathedral opens its doors to Occupy Boston assemblies

As Occupy Boston protesters regroup following the recent close of their Dewey Square encampment, the Episcopal Diocese of Masschusetts' Cathedral Church of St. Paul has offered them meeting space for their general assemblies, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 13. 

An invitation to prayer on Sept. 11

During the Sept. 11 anniversary observance at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston, members of the congregation lit candles in remembrance of those who have died.  There was music by the MagnificatBoston choir, directed by Mark Engelhardt, and cellist Kim Hardy, prayers in English and Arabic and meditations on hope and fear given by Tufts chaplain Naila Baloch and Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE.
