MagnificatBoston is a group of singers "from parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and beyond" who are dedicated to the performance of Anglican choral Evensong. In monastic tradition, Evensong are the prayers said before retiring for the night.
The 25-member group performs once each month at a parish or chapel in the diocese, singing both English period and new American liturgical music.
Rediscover the gift of a few hours of quiet reflection. The day begins with an opening meditation from area leaders and colleagues, followed by individual quiet time, shared reflections, worship and midday meal.
Led by the Rt. Rev. Barbara C. Harris, retired bishop suffragan of the Diocese of Massachusetts.
Registration is required, suggest fee of $30 includes midday dinner.

During winter break, 29 students from Greater Boston travelled to Israel and Palestine with the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. Students from Northeastern University will share what they saw, heard and experienced during their twelve-day journey as they followed in the footsteps of Jesus and talked with Israelis and Palestinians to better understand the conflict between them.
Tammy RaabeMusic for a while (www.musicforawhile.org), an early music quartet, presents "The Sounds of Early 17th-Century Europe," featuring music by Dowland and Morley, as well as early baroque music from Italy, German and France.
This workshop, presented by the diocesan Congregational Business Consultants, is aimed at parish treasurers and other parishioners and church employees who are interested in acquiring the tools and resources to make maintaining a vital and viable parish easier and less fraught with stress.
Join Bishop Barbara Harris in celebrating International Women's Day on Sunday, April 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral. The Eucharist service will be followed by a luncheon and awards ceremony.

Lessons in Leadership from the Early Church will be the theme at this leadership retreat led by Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE. As a prelude to his soon-to-be-published book, Bishop Shaw will offer
three meditations on leadership issues inspired by his study of the New
Testament and life among us. Come as individuals or congregational leadership teams for a day of reflection, prayer and conversation about leadership.

The Crossing - the second anniversaryThe Crossing is the cathedral's worship party, mixing old-school traditions, deep soul and radical welcome. On Thurday, April 17, The Crossing is celebrating its second birthday with spiritual practice at 6 p.m. and worship at 6:30 p.m., including blessings from Bishop Barbara Harris, the first woman in the Anglican Communion to be a bishop.

John Bell, a songwriter and song collector, minister in the Church of Scotland, fellow of the Royal School of Church Music and member of the Iona Community will lead a workshop for choir directors, clergy and other music leaders on the importance of congregational singing and the place of song and music in the church.
This event will take place at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church on the grounds of Boston College.

Pianist and organist Ed Broms continues his monthly series of performances playing the complete works of jazz legend John Coltrane at 7:30 pm on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, (138 Tremont Street, Boston, MA, ).
