The parishioners of Grace Church in New Bedford are celebrating the 175th anniversary of their church's founding with a series of commemorative events. The theme of the year-long celebration is "Looking back in gratitude, looking ahead in faith."
The choir of Trinity Church in Newton Centre and friends, under the direction Barbara Roth-Donaldson, will perform works by Schubert, Purcell, Brahms, Dvorak, Le Jeune and others on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m.
A $10 donation is suggested. This event is handcap accessible.

The St. John's parish choir will sing the ancient bedtime office of Compline on Sunday, May 18 at 8:30 p.m. The half hour meditative service will be sung by candlelight with incense burning and a canopy of 500 paper doves engraved with prayers from parishioners and community members.

The chapel choir of Thomas's Preparatory School in Kensington in the U.K., under the direction of Richard Le Boutillier and accompanied on the organ by Justin Luke, is touring Boston. They will present a program of works by Victoria, Elgar, Howells and Dyson at Old North Church on Tuesday, May 27. All are welcome to the free concert.

The Rev. William Miller, author of The Gospel According to Sam and rector of St. Michael's Church in Lihue, Hawaii, will be signing books, teaching a forum and preaching at Holy Eucharist services at Grace Church in Vineyard Haven on Sunday, June 1. Miller has been praised as "superb preacher" who brings joy, wisdom and humor to his writings.
As part of an ongoing celebration of its 275th anniversary year, St. Peter's Church is featuring an organ concert by Eric Anderson on Sunday, June 1 at the church. The concert will be followed by a reception.
