The Senior High Retreat—“One Great Show: The Setlist of Your Life”—for youth in grades 9-12, is coming up: Friday-Sunday, Feb. 6-8 at the Barbara C. Harris Camp and Conference Center in Greenfield, N.H. The weekend is an opportunity for high school Episcopalians from around the diocese to meet each other, participate in worship, hear a live band, play games, relax and perhaps even enjoy some snow. The cost is $115 per person, with scholarships available, as well as transportation, for a small fee, from the Cape and South Shore.

The Ministry Discernment Conference offered by the bishops and the Commission on Ministry is intended to provide an in-depth look at the 2009 Ministry Discernment Handbook and to give potential applicants to the ordination process an opportunity to explore their sense of call and whether that call is to ordained ministry or committed lay ministry.

The Massachusetts Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians will observe its annual Absalom Jones service on Sunday, Feb. 8, 4 p.m., at St. Bartholomew's Church (239 Harvard Street) in Cambridge. The Rev. Stephanie Spellers will be the guest preacher. The chapter will also present the annual Frederick Douglass Isaacs Jr. Parish Lay Leadership Awards of Merit for Outstanding Achievement to one person of color from each parish in the diocese. The diocese’s Congregational Business Consultants will offer workshops on business practices and parish audits at several locations on these upcoming Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Feb. 28 at Trinity Church (131 West Emerson Street) in Melrose; March 21 at the Parish of St. Paul (1135 Walnut Street) in Newton Highlands; and March 28 at St. Mary’s Church (3055 Main Street) in Barnstable. The workshops are aimed at treasurers, especially new ones, but will be of interest to all clergy and lay members with church business responsibilities, including wardens and other vestry members.

Each month, Bethany House of Prayer offers a half day of quiet and hospitality for individuals and groups. The day begins with an opening meditation from area leaders and colleagues. Individual time for prayer or study follows, with an opportunity for shared reflection, worship and a meal. Rooms can be reserved for a colleagues group or staff to gather in the morning or afternoon.
