November 11, 2008 will be the 100th anniversary of the Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin. To celebrate, the church is sponsoring numerous spiritual and cultural events throughout the year and invites everyone to celebrate with them.
The complete roster of events:
June 29: Jazz Tea from 3-6 p.m. at the National Center of Afro-American Artists, 300 Walnut Avenue, Roxbury.
Tickets are $25.
July 12: Chicken dinner (eat in, take out or nearby delivery) from 11a.m.-3 p.m. at the Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin. Chicken wings or fried fish, with cole slaw, potato salad and green beans; apple or sweet potato pie for dessert.
Sept. 13: Back-to-school Children's Jubilee, 12-5 p.m. at the Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin.
Nov. 11: (Tuesday) Centennial service, 6 p.m. at the Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin.
Nov. 14: Centennial banquet, 6-10 p.m. at the Venezia Waterfront Banquet Facility in Dorchester. Clifton Wharton, Jr., former CEO of TIAA-CREF will be the keynote speaker; tickets are $100.
Nov. 15: Roxbury trolley tour and lunch, 12-4 p.m. beginning at the Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin. Tickets are $30 which includes the tour, soup, sandwich and dessert.
Nov. 16: Centennial Sunday service, 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin. Brunch to follow.
