The parishioners of Grace Church in New Bedford are celebrating the 175th anniversary of their church's founding with a series of commemorative events. The theme of the year-long celebration is "Looking back in gratitude, looking ahead in faith."
Sun. Oct. 12, 10 a.m.: commemoration service using the Book of Common Prayer from 1789 that was used at the first service in Grace Church in 1733. Special music, including a brass ensemble, will be part of the service, and a collage of the church's role in the community will be displayed.
Sun. Oct. 26, 2 p.m.: Free youth concert of Christian song, drama, devotionals and testimony by the Teen Challenge-Twin Cities School for Adolescent Girls in Fitchburg.
Sun. Feb. 8, 2009, 3 p.m.: Chamber concert by the Albertine Trio: Richard Faria on clarinet, Heidi Hoffman on cello and Xak Bjerken on piano.
Sat. May 16, 2009, TBD: Anniversary dinner.
Sun. May 31, 2009, 10 a.m.: Pentecost Sunday worship service
