The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Boston is celebrating its 125th anniversary with several events on Sunday, April 27:

  • 10:30 a.m. - Solemn High Eucharist
  • 6-7 p.m. - Reception
  • 8 p.m. - Choral evensong and dedication of the Angelus Bell in memory of Everett Titcomb, St. John's organist from 1910 to 1960

Dr. Farmer will also be the preacher during the service, which will be followed by a reception.

The Church of the Holy Name, Swampscott is celebrating the restoration of their 1922 Skinner organ on Sunday, April 27 with a dedication at the 10 a.m. service and a concert at 4 p.m. by Dr. Douglas Major. A reception will follow the concert.

MagnificatBoston sings Evensong

MagnificatBoston is a group of singers "from parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and beyond" who are dedicated to the performance of Anglican choral Evensong. In monastic tradition, Evensong are the prayers said before retiring for the night.

The 25-member group performs once each month at a parish or chapel in the diocese, singing both English period and new American liturgical music.
