The Rt. Rev. Roy F. "Bud" Cederholm, Suffragan Bishop

Bishop CederholmBishop CederholmBishop Cederholm was consecrated a bishop in 2001, and as senior suffragan (assisting) bishop, he serves alongside the diocesan bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE, and Bishop Suffragan Gayle E. Harris, with oversight for diocesan congregational development.

A gifted teacher and preacher, Bishop Cederholm is an active voice and witness for environmental stewardship.

He provides leadership for a sustained diocesan commitment to relief and development work in the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He participates in numerous mission work trips to Mississippi and Louisiana, inspiring parish and student groups to similar service. His 2006 holiday radio campaign appealing for volunteers and donations to help hurricane-affected families was recognized by the national Religion Communicators Council with a DeRose-Hinkhouse Award of Merit.

A native of Brockton, Mass., Bishop Bud, as he is known familiarly, was ordained to the priesthood in 1972 in Massachusetts. Before his consecration, Bishop Cederholm served for more than 10 years as rector at Christ Church in Needham.
He and his wife, Ruth Ann, have two sons and four grandchildren.
