Ecclesia Ministries common cathedral and its partners in the Doorbell Ministry for the homeless present a kick-off conference on welcoming the newly housed into the larger community. The keynote speaker is Kip Tiernan, founder of Rosie's Place and the Greater Boston Food Bank.
In the last two years, more than 200 people in Boston have moved off the streets and into stable housing. However, the transition from homelessness to housing is proving to be a challenge for many people. The biggest obstacle seems to be the loneliness and isolation of living alone.
The Keys to the Kingdom is an ongoing project designed to support people of faith in being good neighbors and faithful companions with people who are moving off the streets and into their communities. This conference is designed to inform clergy and lay leaders how their congregations can be involved on the ground level of this new initiative.
The suggested donation for the conference is $20, which includes lunch (no-one turned away). Please RSVP to doorbellministries [at] gmail [dot] com. For more information, call 617-247-4927.
