Folk Fridays at the Advent returns with local singer/songwriter Jake Armerding. Originally from Ipswich, Jake has performed over a thousand shows from coast to coast since joining his dad's bluegrass band on fiddle at age 13. His 2007 album, Walking on the World, earned praise from The Boston Globe, who called him "the most gifted and promising songwriter to emerge from the Boston folk scene in years." Performing on voice, guitar, violin and mandolin, Armerding regularly plays to sold-out audiences at Harvard Square's Club Passim.
Opening for Amerding will be the African Great Lakes Ensemble, a group that performs African dancing and drumming across the country, and features Advent parishioners Moses Buyondo and Moses Sekajja.
Doors open at 7:30, show at 8 PM. $10 suggested donation.
