“Promoting Peaceful Centers and Compassion in Children and Youth” is a workshop designed for those who interact with and care for youth. Teachers, parents and researchers will come together to explore meditation and compassion as tools to build resilience in youth. Presenters will include doctors, psychologists, and youth workers who are experienced with mindful and meditative practices. Attendees will review the latest research on meditation and learn several meditative techniques that can be taught to youth, including teaching compassion and connection building.
The workshop will be led by Peter Stringham, M.D. of East Boston Health Center, who has pioneered the teaching of non-violence to youth for 30 years; psychologist David Stringham, M.D.; and Roland Smart of the Harvard School of Public Health. The workshop is sponsored by RUAH, an educational organization based in Brookline MA, the Resource Center and Office for Youth Ministries of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, and Epiphany School.
The fee for the workshop is $25; scholarships are available. Please register by phone at 617-277-0036 or email at ruahspirit [at] gmail [dot] com For more information, consult the RUAH website: www.ruahspirit.org
