Bible Workbench Training Retreat

St. Stephen's Church (74 South Common Street) in Lynn will host a training retreat for subscribers to the Bible study leading and learning tools Bible Workbench and KidText and TeenText:
• Friday, May 21, 7-9 p.m., and Saturday, May 22, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Bible Workbench)
• Sunday, May 23, 2-4:30 p.m. (KidText and TeenText)

Cost is $35 for Friday and Saturday; $15 for Sunday: $45 for the full weekend.

Clergy Families Picnic

Evensong

Christ Church (33 Central Street) in Andover will offer Choral Evensong on Sunday, May 2, 5 p.m., featuring the parish choir singing Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by George Dyson, and Motet:  Schaffe in mir, Gott, Op. 29, No. 2 by Johannes Brahms (a beautiful setting of Psalm 51:11-13).  A reception follows in the parish hall. 

There will be a free-will offering for disaster relief in Haiti.

Open Meeting on Title IV Changes

The Episcopal Church's disciplinary canons (Title IV) were revised by General Convention last summer, and the changes have implications for diocesan canons.  An open meeting to discuss the changes and related issues will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (138 Tremont Street) in Boston.  All are welcome.

Family Camp: “Friended by God”

Come together to enjoy God’s creation, summer camp activities, shared meals and time for learning together and worshiping God in the beauty of New Hampshire’s mountains.

UBE Harbor Cruise

The Massachusetts Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) is sponsoring a Boston Harbor cruise, to benefit the Dr. Reginald Benn Scholarship Fund, on Saturday, June 5.  Boarding begins at 11:30 a.m. at Commonwealth Pier (200 Seaport Boulevard) in Boston.  The cruise departs promptly at noon, returning at 2 p.m.

Bus transportation to the wharf will be available from St. John St. James Church (149 Roxbury Street) in Roxbury, leaving promptly at 10:30 a.m.

Cost is $80 per person, which includes a lobster luncheon and entertainment.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Workshop

The Church of Our Redeemer (6 Meriam Street) in Lexington and the Massachusetts Guild of the Good Shepherd will host a free morning workshop on Saturday, May 1, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., for people interested in learning more about the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd spiritual formation program for children ages 3-12.

“What is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?” will offer a chance to come and see what this Montessori-based way of introducing children to the Christian faith looks like, and its potential to work in any size church, with any size budget.

Spring Clean-Up
