"Lobster on the Lawn" to "Mass on the Grass": Episcopal churches welcome you this summer

Lobster From "Lobster on the Lawn" and "Mass on the Grass" to "Chapel Camp" and "Free Food for Kids," Episcopal churches across eastern Massachusetts welcome you to join them for summer prayer, fun, fellowship and service.  Use the links below to learn more. 

Christ Church in Andover is organizing labyrinth walks in the local area, Thursdays, 6 p.m., through Aug. 15.  All ages welcome. 

Emmanuel Church in Boston hosts summer "Chapel Camp," a fun activity every week, from ice cream sundaes to hymn sings to drawing and poetry, following the 10 a.m. service in the church's Lindsey Chapel.

St. Stephen's Church in Cohasset offers carillon recitals on Sundays at 6 p.m. on Cohasset Common.  Bring lawn chairs or a blanket along with a picnic supper to enjoy while the bells are ringing.  After each recital, a brief tour of the tower is offered for those interested in seeing the instrument in the playing cabinet and the bells in the tower above.

St. Barnabas's Church in Falmouth serves "Lobster on the Lawn" on Mondays, 5-7 p.m.; $15 buys a roll, drink, chips and pie, and children eat peanut butter and jelly for free.  Eat on the lawn at church–sit at a table or bring a blanket–or take a meal home.

The Church of Our Saviour in Milton has "Mass on the Grass" on Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m., on July 24, Aug. 7 and Aug. 21.  Bring a picnic supper and join for casual outdoor fun and fellowship, including shared Scripture reflections and a celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The Church of the Holy Spirit in Orleans puts together "Free Food for Kids" every weekday--healthy, sandwich-based meals prepared in the church kitchen from 5 to 8 a.m. and delivered and served at four meal sites, two in Chatham, one in Truro and one in Eastham.  Helpers are always welcome.

Christ Church in Plymouth will hold a Lobster and Strawberry Festival on Aug. 2 and 3, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, featuring “entirely homemade” strawberry shortcake and lobster rolls. In addition there will be a book table, a baked goods and fresh produce table, gift baskets for sale and a raffle for an array of summer-themed items, including a handmade picnic table.
