"The Arc Toward Justice: Unfinished Business": The Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, founded 51 years ago by St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church and Union United Methodist Church, is the nation’s longest-running celebration of its kind. This year, the Breakfast Committee, in partnership with Northeastern University, has reimagined the festivities as a virtual event to include both a multifaceted celebration and interactive teach-ins.
Planned speakers and highlights include: Kimberly Atkins, WBUR senior correspondent, host; Cleveland Sellars, member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, tribute to the late Honorable John Lewis; the Rev. Dr. William Barber, tribute to the Poor People’s Campaign of Massachusetts; a conversation with Massachusetts elected officials, moderated by Segun Idowu, executive director of the Black Economic Councils; musical interludes by the Berklee Ensemble; and spoken word performances.
