Bishop Alan M. Gates has appointed the Rev. Dr. Daniel Joslyn-Siemiatkoski as an ecumenical and interreligious officer for the Diocese of Massachusetts. Joslyn-Siemiatkoski joins Jane C. Redmont who has served in this capacity since 2018.

The Bishop Nominating Committee announced on Sept. 18, 2023, a series of listening sessions to gather input from the people of the diocese regarding their vision for the future and the qualities sought in a new bishop.  Feedback from these sessions will help to guide the search process and will be incorporated in the diocesan profile shared with the prospective nominees.

In electing Bud Cederholm as its bishop suffragan on Nov. 4, 2000, the Diocese of Massachusetts chose a native son, a seasoned priest, well-known and respected throughout New England, a leader and servant of the church who knew the diocese well, having spent, at the time of his election, more than half of his ordained ministry in Massachusetts.

The Rt. Rev. Alan M. Gates announced on Aug. 28, 2023, the death of the Rt. Rev. Roy F. "Bud" Cederholm Jr., Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Massachusetts from 2001 to 2011. Bishop Cederholm was 79. Funeral arrangements and the full text of Bishop Gates's pastoral message follow.

The Rev. Gregory G. Perez has been named regional canon for the Central Region of the Diocese of Massachusetts, which comprises the 60 congregations and other church-related institutions in the Boston Harbor, Alewife, Charles River and Neponset River deaneries. His official start date will be Oct. 1.
