Hamel brings to his new position more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit financial management, strategic planning, budgeting and organizational development, and a demonstrated dedication to strengthening organizations by improving and implementing internal systems.  He has worked since 2012 as the director of business and finance for the Federation for Children with Special Needs in Boston, a nonprofit that connects families of children with disabilities with health and educational resources across Massachusetts.  Prior to that, he directed finance and administrative operations for several Boston-based nonprofits, including Health Leads, a national organization which mobilizes college volunteers to connect patients with basic health resources.

He holds a B.S. degree in accountancy and sociology from Villanova University and is an AmeriCorps Alums National Spirit of Service Award winner.  He is a lifelong Episcopalian and currently serves as treasurer and vestry member of Grace Church in Medford.  He lives in Medford with his wife, Jane, and three children.

"Tom Hamel brings extensive experience in leading nonprofit organizations in financial management, budgeting and strategic planning, as well as a commitment to the mission of our diocese evident in his service as a parish treasurer and vestry member.  We are delighted that he will join chief business officer Gerry Sullivan and our very capable Treasurer's Office team," the Rev. Canon Bill Parnell, Canon to the Ordinary, said.
