Search Opened for new Canon for Communications, Witness, and Engagement

The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts is pleased to announce the opening of a search for a new Canon for Communications, Witness, and Engagement. This full-time position will report directly to Bishop Julia Whitworth and will lead a small team to oversee the communications, social witness, and fundraising/development aspects of our Diocesan operations.

The design of this position responds to the visioning work our Diocese has been engaging for the past six months, and beyond. These efforts repeatedly highlighted the strong desires of our laity and clergy to: be more connected to one another and our shared ministry as a Diocese; to raise our profile as as a denomination and diocese in order to witness to our values and to expand evangelism; and to build new partnerships with entities and individuals who can help support our efforts.

"As we continue to develop our Diocesan vision, we already know that becoming more visible externally is central to how Christ is calling us in these deeply challenging times," says Bishop Whitworth. "Building up our staff capacity in these key areas of communications, fundraising, and social witness, will also help us better support congregations in these areas of their ministries as well."

The full position posting can be found here; applications are now being accepted through July 23 and will be reviewed as they are received.
