A group based out of St. Barnabas Church has been hosting six to eight homeless people at the Falmouth Inn since Jan. 8. They hope to continue the program through the end of March but need more funding, said Alan Burt, co-founder of Homeless not Hopeless Inc., an organization that houses homeless people in Hyannis.
The initiative began when the group of volunteers, spearheaded by Paul Rifkin, former owner of Moonakis Café in Falmouth, tried to revamp the Overnights of Hospitality Program that ran from 2001 to about 2013 and housed people overnight at 45 churches across the Cape, said Burt, who founded the overnights program.
