Patriot Ledger: Feeding hundreds of hungry South Shore residents on Thanksgiving

By about 12:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Dennis Bates had already been in the kitchen at Christ Church Episcopal in Quincy for 6 1/2 hours.  Clad in an assortment of Patriots apparel, the 68-year-old calls the shots in the kitchen, dispatching his volunteer troops armed with ladles of turkey, squash and mashed potatoes piping hot for the hungry masses who’ve come to get a Thanksgiving meal courtesy of Father Bill’s Place in Quincy.  For more than 25 years, Father Bill’s Place and Christ Church have teamed up to provide Thanksgiving meals to those in need around the South Shore.
