First Mission Tithe Matching Grants awarded

Mission strategy cross The first fruits of the diocese's successful $20-million Together Now fundraising campaign are already at work, through a tithe of $2 million for global mission. 

One of the ways these funds are being distributed is through new Mission Tithe Council Grants and Mission Tithe Matching Grants. The matching grants are awarded to congregations in the diocese to help fund new and existing mission projects around the world.

Following an application process, the first round of Mission Tithe Matching Grants were awarded in May:  

  • Church of St. John the Evangelist in Duxbury: $7,250 for education at the El Hogar mission in Honduras. 
  • Christ Church in Andover: $10,000 for work with the trade school at the Centre de Formation Fritz Lafont in Haiti. 
  • Grace Church in North Attleborough: $10,000 for medical support at St. Francis Xavier Misufuni Leprosy Care Center in Tanga, Tanzania. 
  • Trinity Church in Boston: $10,000 for youth programs through Tatua Kenya. 
  • All Saints Parish in Brookline: $10,000 for renovations and education at the Magila Center  at Holy Cross in Tanga, Tanzania.
  • Church of the Good Shepherd in Acton: $7,225 for a partnership for community development in El Octillo, El Salvador. 
  • St. Paul’s Church in Natick: $10,000 for education at Queen Esther Girls High School in Mpwapwa, Tanzania. 
  • St. Luke’s Church in Fall River: $3,000 for educational programs at Crossroad Springs, Hamisi, Kenya. 
  • Parish of the Epiphany, Winchester: $10,000 for education at El Hogar mission in Honduras. 
  • St. Michael’s Church in Milton: $4,000 for partner projects with St. Paul’s Homecoming Center and Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans, LA. 
  • Christ Church in Needham: $10,000 for construction and a goat breeding program at St. Luc’s School in Lazile, Haiti. 
  • St. Paul’s Church in Newburyport: $10,000 for education in partnership with the Cristosal base communities in El Salvador. 
  • St. Thomas's Church in Taunton: $7,500 for construction in partnership with Four Corners in Navajoland, New Mexico. 
  • St. Christopher’s Church in Chatham: $7,500 for education at the Keenan Institute, Goll Farm, Liberia.
  • Church of the Epiphany in Walpole: $7,500 for food assistance for children at the Mil Milagros mission in Guatemala. 
  • Church of the Messiah in Auburndale: $5,000 toward education and the library in the Winterton and Kethani Townships in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
  • Diocesan Office for Youth Ministry: $5,000 for scholarships for a youth mission experience through the Youth Services Opportunities Project in New York City.
