Red Sox victory parade-Diocesan Convention mash-up: Some schedule adjustments

With the Red Sox World Series victory parade through downtown Boston rolling past the Cathedral 2013 Convention logo Church of St. Paul while Diocesan Convention is underway on Saturday, Nov. 2, the convention schedule and arrangements have had to be adjusted as follows:

Registration will open early at 7 a.m.  Convention-goers are asked to arrive as early as possible.  Because of the parade, the MBTA will not be running its weekend construction project shuttle buses and the Red Line will be open.

Childcare will open at 7:45 a.m.

The convention procession starts at 8:20 a.m. and the call to order is at 8:30 a.m.

Plans are being made to have a video camera placed on the cathedral porch so that the convention can break at an appropriate time to enjoy a portion of the parade on the big screen inside the church.

Those who did not pre-order a boxed lunch when they registered online will need to bring their own lunch.  Because there will not be easy access into and out of the building at lunchtime, everyone will enjoy their lunches together inside the building.  Bottled water and recycling bins will be on hand.

Convention participants are being reminded to bring, in addition to their lunch, any other provisions they will need during the day, as well as all convention materials.

Since convention participants will not be going out to lunch, the lunch period will be shortened to an hour so that convention business can resume in a timely fashion.

An evacuation plan is in place and will be reviewed with those gathered.

The cathedral and office facilities at 138 Tremont Street will be at capacity with convention participants and will not be able to accommodate family members or extra people who may be accompanying convention participants into the city for the parade.  They will need to make independent arrangements.
