Ames is currently the assistant to the president of Andover Newton Theological School, providing support to him and to the Board of Trustees.  In the past he was assistant to the deans and faculty of Andover Newton and was responsible for supporting graduate administrative, academic and financial records.

He is a member of the Church of the Advent in Boston and is associated with Marsh Chapel at Boston University, serving there as sacristan.  He also is operations manager for the Back Bay Chorale, Boston and has had a long association with choirs and choral groups in New England.

In announcing the hire to staff, Harris noted that Ames's "skills are varied and well developed in production values, scheduling, coordination and documentation.  Please welcome David among us!"
