Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are saddened to inform you of the death of the Rev. Stephen V. Smith on the Annapurna Circuit, near Manang, Nepal, on Oct. 18, 2019. Steve was the assistant rector and then interim at the Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill from 1984 until 1989; rector at St. John’s Church in Westwood from 1989 until 2004; and rector at St. Mary’s Church in Barnstable starting in 2004 until he retired in 2011.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Church in Boston, Massachusetts. Clergy are invited to vest; white stoles. Clergy are asked to inform the Emmanuel Church office if they intend to attend so that enough space may be reserved: parishadmin@emmanuelboston.org.
May the soul of God’s faithful servant departed rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him.
