Join us online at 4 pm for a Service of Holy Listening as we gather in a virtual circle and receive the gift of story from several Native voices, each bringing a unique perspective of Deer Island, Metacomet’s Rebellion/King Philip’s war and its meaning and relevance today. Supported by the dioceses of Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts. Registration is required; register here.
In addition, local worshipping communities are invited to respond to the call made by Bishops Fisher and Whitworth to set this day aside as A Day of Remembrance and Lamentation for the anguish caused by the expulsion, enslavement, and genocide of Native people across our Commonwealth. Liturgical resources will be made available by early September.
