On Feb. 11, the church marks the 30th anniversary of the Rt. Rev. Barbara C. Harris's 1989 consecration--the day Harris became the first female bishop in the worldwide Anglican Communion.

On this historic day, she issued the following message to the community of the Diocese of Massachusetts, where she served as bishop suffragan until her retirement in 2002.

The Rt. Rev. Alan M. Gates, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, offered the following response to the election on Feb. 9 of the Rev. Thomas J. Brown, the rector of the Parish of the Epiphany in Winchester, to be the next bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine:

The Rev. Canon Tina Rathbone has announced her decision to leave her ministry as canon missioner at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston, effective March 4, in order to pursue a call to serve with immigrants and refugees in Mexico and Central America--a new ministry that is still taking shape.

Six congregations are answering the diocesan mission strategy's call for "embracing brave change" by stepping forward to launch the "Massachusetts Indaba 2019" initiative this month.

Teams of four people from each of the congregations gathered at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston on Saturday, Jan. 12 to sing and pray together, get some orientation and begin planning their Indaba experience.
